I am a practicing chiropractor with 20 years' clinical experience,
currently based in clinics in South Somerset & North Dorset
with four associates and over 12,000 active patients.
I also work in a specialist Headache Clinic, co-managing
head and face pain patients as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
In addition to my clinical practice, I am a Member of the Expert Witness Institute (EWI)
and work as an chiropractic expert witness offering independent professional opinions in matters of:
- Chiropractic negligence and malpractice cases
- Personal injury
- Road traffic accidents
- Low back pain
- Headache & facial pain
- Repetitive strain injuries
I receive over 20 malpractice instructions per year from a wide variety of solicitors in England and Ireland;
have written approximately 75 reports in the last three years, comprising almost 1 million words of expert testimony. I have given
evidence in court, to tribunals and before the Professional Conduct Committee of the General Chiropractic Council.
My original training as a journalist and physicist is reflected in
my continuing interest in scientific writing and publishing:
I was editor of Clinical Chiropractic,
an international peer-reviewed journal from 1996-2013 and have published two books and several dozen articles in peer-reviewed journals.
This reflects my active involvement in conducting and publishing clinically-based research: my interests include functional gastrointestinal
disorders, cephalaglia (head and face pain), whiplash associated disorders and laterality. This research culminated in obtaining
an MPhil through the University of South Wales.
I am an inaugural fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractors, and also hold a specialist
Fellowship in their Faculty of Pain. I am also a Fellow of the British Chiropractic Association
and was the first chiropractor to be elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
